Welcome to peterplatan.com !

This site is dedicated to sharing my experiences and travels with anybody interested. The original version of peterplatan.com was built in 1998 when I moved to Sweden for my studies with the purpose of keeping in contact with friends and family in Finland. Since then the site has developed in bits and pieces all the way to the version you can see here now. It still serves its original function of connecting me to and from wherever on earth I might happen to be at the moment. It's built basically on CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) which gives all the layouts and styles to the pages while the XHTML code only provides the pages their fundamental structure.

You may also choose your preferred layout style (Ocean, Sand or Road) from the top right corner of each page... Enjoy!

Moved to Singapore!

Turned another major page in life as started full time studies at the University of Singapore (NUS) Business School for a MBA degree. It's been some time since sitting in a library with a pile of study books. Most importantly I'm looking forward to exploring Asia, meeting new people and learning life on this side of the globe. Life is short, it's never too late. Dream. Explore. Discover. :)

Finland 6 - Sweden 1

It finally happened after 16 years since the previous victory: Finland won the world championship in ice hockey 2011 in the final game against Sweden! And what a final score: Finland SIX - Sweden one. 6 - 1!!!! The celebrations were big and will probably continue throughout the summer. :) Hyvд Suomi!

Japan trip

Just came back from a great trip to Japan. Went skiing in the Hakuba region which is renown for getting lots of snow. We weren't disappointed. Skied the best ever forest back country in deep powder snow! Not much after ski in the village but it didn't matter as the skiing conditions were optimal. Check out some of the video footage!

We also spent 4 days exploring Tokyo which is a maze of people, cars, neon lights and sounds. Truly a metropolitan city! I renewed the picture gallery and upload some new pictures here. Good times! :)
