This site is dedicated to sharing my experiences and travels with anybody interested. The original version of peterplatan.com was built in 1998 when I moved to Sweden for my studies with the purpose of keeping in contact with friends and family in Finland. Since then the site has developed in bits and pieces all the way to the version you can see here now. It still serves its original function of connecting me to and from wherever on earth I might happen to be at the moment. It's built basically on CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) which gives all the layouts and styles to the pages while the XHTML code only provides the pages their fundamental structure.
You may also choose your preferred layout style (Ocean, Sand or Road) from the top right corner of each page... Enjoy!

I haven't written any updates here for some time. I guess facebook has been fulfilling the concept of social networking and up-to-date current information on who is where and doing what... Well, the photos are easier to share on the website so after my trip to Egypt I added a few pictures to the Photos section. The pyramids were more impressive than I had expected - as well as the treasures of Tutankhamen in the Egyptian Museum.

Back in Bogota, Colombia for a change. Last time I was here in 2003 so it was time I payed a visit to this great city. Actually I'm on a business trip to Peru and Colombia but will start my summer vacations here. To kick of the summer, I'll be traveling to the Caribbean coast of Colombia; Cartagena and Santa Marta for some sun and fun. So far so good!

Finished my second Stockholm Marathon, and fourth marathon altogether, this past Saturday. The 29th Stockholm Marathon was marked by extremely hot weather, blue skies and a temperature of 29 degrees celcius. I finished in a time of 3 hours and 43 minutes - 5 minutes slower than last year. Of the 14.100 runners 12.345 managed to complete the course of which I was finisher number 1.537. I'm pretty pleased with the result - especially considering the tough weather this year.

Haven't written anything here for some time. Now I happen to be on a trip to Washington for a change. The weather is nice and warm over here. I even had a few hours of spare time this morning which I spent jogging along the Potomac River and the central park of Washington. Running past the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and Capitol Hill sure was a change to the scenery that I usually get in Finland. I'm scheduled to run the Stockholm Marathon in the beginning of June so I'm trying to follow my training program even on these business trips.
