This site is dedicated to sharing my experiences and travels with anybody interested. The original version of peterplatan.com was built in 1998 when I moved to Sweden for my studies with the purpose of keeping in contact with friends and family in Finland. Since then the site has developed in bits and pieces all the way to the version you can see here now. It still serves its original function of connecting me to and from wherever on earth I might happen to be at the moment. It's built basically on CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) which gives all the layouts and styles to the pages while the XHTML code only provides the pages their fundamental structure.
You may also choose your preferred layout style (Ocean, Sand or Road) from the top right corner of each page... Enjoy!

Facebook has plenty of applications which keep you up to date on one's whereabouts and there's not much need to update this page very frequently. A pretty useful application is Dopplr where you can record your travel plans. It's actually pretty easy to insert the code to any webpage so here it goes. Should now be visible on the left side of this page...

It seems that I've been running this personal web page for 10 consecutive years now! It all started from the autumn of 1998 when I was in Sweden for studies and wanted to update friends and family with life abroad. It's been a pretty useful tool especially in the times when digital pictures still were not that common, emails didn't have space for photos and there was no social networking web sites such as Facebook. I guess it still serves some kind of function, at least as a photo gallery and a 10 year life history... so I'll just let it be and see...

It seems like summer is over for this year and it's time to do whatever you're supposed to do between summer vacations. Summer in Finland this year was pretty disappointing what comes to the weather. One of the coldest and rainiest summers in some time. Of course it was good to be on vacation and just relax. Sailing for a week on the Gulf of Finland was great plus the trip to Rome. Both of which there are pictures of in the Photo Gallery. C'est cą!

I guess it's time to write something here for a change. Currently I'm in good old Montreal, Canada on my 2 week business trip tour. New York was the first stop and I even had some hours of free time to enjoy Manhattan. Couldn't complain about the fancy hotel on Central Park South either. Saturday night in Montreal was fun even though not as intense as in the good old Concordia exchange student times. Next, and last, stop is Brussels...
